ANZ Tower is an imposing 44 storey skyscraper and a focal point of Liberty Place, a vibrant new urban development encompassing business, retail, dining and leisure. The bold feature of main tower’s large roof fin is a distinctive landmark amongst the surrounding plaza, artworks, restored heritage buildings alongside modern architecture.

The access systems required needed to comprehensively service all the buildings in the precinct. This included delivering practical solutions for access to the whole facade of the main tower and the roof fin, which will demand regular maintenance as well as access to the lower buildings. Another key consideration was preserving the aesthetic of the building and remaining sympathetic to the use of materials such as sandstone and glass.

The solution Manntech delivered is a comprehensive access system utilising a wide range of machines and techniques. The main tower facade is serviced by a compact crane type BMU on a track at roof level. The suite of access solutions for the precinct also includes bespoke ladder and stairway systems, both rolling and socket davit systems and rope access anchors.

The all-important fin design feature presented a particular challenge in terms of delivering effective access whilst leaving the aesthetic unspoiled. This was achieved by integrating a rope access monorail system into the feature itself to provide practicality and efficiency for the user while also maintaining the integrity of the design.

Manntech was selected for this project based on a proposal that provided full coverage of all the building areas, utilising a mixture of bespoke and “off the shelf” systems to deliver a comprehensive access solution.
